I have been meaning to make one of these in a long time, so that I can put my porridge bowl into it and can carry it back to bed, or a bowl of soup to my craft room.....
so simple to make, I did mess about measuring various bowls, but think a 10inch square pretty much covers most, unless they are really small.
I used polyester wadding, which you can't put in the microwave, but I had already decided that I wouldn't use it to cook with in case of spillage!
